Waterfall Methodology vs. Agile Methodology

Waterfall Methodology vs. Agile Methodology
Agile software development is a process that enables faster response to rapidly changing requirements using flexible design principles, patterns, and practices. The goal behind Agile is to obtain a process where there is no process or too much process by decreasing complexity.
Which is more effective?
SAP Implementations have applied ASAP Methodology for an extended amount of time. Therefore, the new approach in applying Agile is somewhat interesting in regards to sufficient results. Agile may be the required approach in bridging the implementation gaps for consistent improved success with the possibility of risks detection throughout the Full-Life Cycle Implementation.  The idea of using Agile Methodology for ERP Implementation (SAP, PeopleSoft, HR Access) hypothetically can be stated as a method for minimizing risks based on the process of on-going, frequent testing within small cycles in opposed to testing post implementation-designing/customizing of the system. Full-Life Cycle testing after configuration and prior to Go-Live provide excessive room for delay in detecting errors and increased risks leading to unsuccessful outcome.
As one of the largest ERP Application, SAP Implementation can raise difficulty with the full-life cycle process to meet organization’s specific needs and requirements. However, Agile Methodology approach of simplicity is what SAP Implementations of various modules requires, Simplicity. The ne functionalities for the solution

SAP, PeopleSoft, and HR Access

How competitive is the ERP Market with similarities that provide slight differences in the day to day operation of system application within organizations of various industries?! However, SAP, PeopleSoft, and HR Access are the most common HR Infornation Systems used among organizations to manage day to day HR Functions. The deciding factor would rely on the choices of strickly web base/web browser, integrated customizable, or add-on/bolt on components focus.

SAP Configuration

SAP Customization/Configuration

Configuration of the SAP Application for various modules within an organization is the most critical stage of the implementation process. It includes designing of the application module to coincide with SAP business process to reflect the organizations business process. When an enterprise SAP Application is being configured, there are certain requirements that must be adhered to. The R/3 business functional areas for implementing modules must meet organization’s legal structure, reporting, and business process. SAP R/3 Systems are provided as a standard system that are designed based on the organization’s specific business needs. The SAP R/3 business process is applied to the organization’s functional business process procedures (BPPs).

How all of this designing/configuring of the system is done?

SAP includes an IMG- Implementation Guide. This is a built in tool that can be selected from the SAP menu path through customization. The module that is being configured/design can be access by selecting the organizations business function requirement. For Example: HR Module consists of a number of functional modules (OM. PA, ESS, MSS, GEM, T&E etc.) that can be processed at the atomic level, which are basically the processing of BPPs. This process is of importance, because it provides every organization with the same industry and similar product and services its unique, distinct application for a competitive edge.

What is SAP?

There are a number of individuals that are not aware of what SAP is. Some have never heard of the enterprise software (SAP). Others refer to SAP as the new software. Outlined is an introduction for a clearer understanding of what is SAP?!
As one of the largest (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning Software, SAP is continuously expanding and evolving technologically. SAP, founded in Walldorf, Germany has been in existence since 1972. Below is a timeline to provide a visual view of SAP Developments/Evolutions.

(MRP) Material Planning 1970    (MRP II) Material Requirement Planning 1980    (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning 1990      (ES) Enterprise Software 2000     Next Generation for Enterprise Software 2010 >>>>
SAP R/3 can best be described as; integrated enterprise software. It primarily operates as an information system in technology.  Let’s take a closer look at how the term integrated applies to enterprise software, SAP. An organization typically consists of a number of departments for a successful operation. For example: Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, and Logistics. SAP is customized during implementation based on the organization’s specific needs in order to provide an effective, efficient, and competitive business process. Data is maintained for timely business transaction. The data that is entered in Human Resources can be access and maintained immediately by all departments within the organization upon being entered. Therefore, paper tracking, filing, and manual maintaining process is no longer necessary. All information in the R/3 Database can be created, displayed, and maintained through the client component/end user desktop.
The information provided above should assist in becoming acclimated with SAP R/3 Enterprise Software.
